KPMG has announced that it has appointed three senior heads to jointly lead its global Restructuring practice. Current Interim Global Head of Restructuring Richard Heis will now lead KPMG’s Global Insolvency practice, while Angel Martin has been named Global Head of Financial Restructuring. Completing the trio of appointments, Mark Raddan has been appointed Global Head of Turnaround.
Leif Zierz, Global Head of Deal Advisory at KPMG, said “With continued economic and geo-political uncertainty testing the mettle of organisations around the world, clients large and small are turning to us for advice on an increasingly broad range of issues which will enable them to drive strategic, operational, organisational and financial change. The breadth and complexity of these issues, coupled with the rapid pace of economic change, meant that now is the right time to appoint three heads to jointly lead our global Restructuring team. Fundamentally, the appointments of Richard, Angel and Mark will enable us to focus more deeply on these core parts of our offering, allowing us to develop and implement more specific strategies and propositions to help our clients truly get a grip on their business.”
Richard Heis is one of the world’s leading corporate restructuring experts, specialising in complex international restructurings. Richard is best known for his work on insolvent financial institutions such as Barings Bank and Japan Leasing, and more recently, using the post-Lehman new insolvency and resolution regimes, cases such as MF Global, Alpari (UK) and Dunfermline Building Society. He was appointed interim global head of KPMG’s Restructuring practice in March 2016.
Angel Martin brings with him broad experiences in financial advisory, turnaround and insolvency procedures. Over the last several years, Angel has led some of Europe’s biggest restructurings involving multiple stakeholder groups, such as Metrovacesa, FCC, Prisa, Pescanova, and more recently Abengoa. Additionally, Angel was appointed as insolvency practitioner by the Spanish Security and Exchange Commission in the biggest insolvency case in the history of Spain, Martinsa Fadesa. In 2007, Angel was named Head of Restructuring for KPMG in Spain and has since successfully led the department’s growth before being named Head of Restructuring for the EMA region in 2012.
Mark Raddan joined KPMG’s UK Restructuring practice in 1999 and has since worked on a string of high profile turnaround and cash management assignments across Europe, the US and the Middle East in sectors as diverse as retail, automotive, steel, media and telecoms.
