Marston Chief Executive, Gareth Hughes, has won the Transformational Leader prize at the London & South EY Entrepreneur Of The Year awards in London.
The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year programme, now in its 31st year globally and 19th in the UK, celebrates men and women that are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses. The award was presented by BBC newsreader Naga Haggar, and the judges commented that: “Gareth perceptibly challenged a traditional market, which struck a chord with our judges for this category. He has guided the company through risks to accelerate its transformation, resulting in high contract retention rates and new business opportunities.”
“He has been instrumental in creating a culture of openness within Marston, and the industry as a whole, by treating customers fairly and managing the most vulnerable in society.”
Gareth commented that: “I am delighted to receive this award, which is positive recognition of the services that Marston provides, and the values we seek to uphold. It shows that doing good business is good for business. It is also as much an award for the 6,000 staff and self-employed agents that work so hard to recover £500 million on behalf of taxpayers each year. A big thanks from me to the whole team at Marston Holdings, and to all of our key suppliers.”
Gareth now goes on to participate at the national award ceremony in October.
