Shelter has been announced as the supplier to deliver a three-year contract for specialist debt advice support services on behalf of the Money Advice Service. The support service will provide organisations across the debt sector with free access to a panel of experts to help guide them through complex debt cases and help them with legal matters. The service will be provided online and by phone.
Shelter has a wealth of experience delivering specialist support and currently provides a similar service to the housing sector. In addition to providing these specialist services to the debt sector, they will focus on ensuring, even more, organisations can access this valuable resource including housing associations, local government, and niche services.
Shelter was selected after a competitive procurement process. Over 40 organisations submitted an expression of interest and there were five final bidders. The quality of bids was extremely high and Shelter represented the best value in terms of their experience and the quality of the service they could provide.
Sheila Wheeler, Director of Debt Advice for the Money Advice Service comments “We are delighted to be working with Shelter to help organisations get the most accurate and up-to-date information on debt matters. This will ensure that people get the best debt advice possible, giving them the best chance of getting their finances back on track.”
The Money Advice Service will work closely with Shelter to ensure a smooth transition of services before the new service commences on 2nd October 2017. There will be no change for debt advice services and their clients in the meantime.”
