William Brooks, Managing Director at Eximus Capital, has been announced at the next Vice President of ICAEW and will take office from June 2019.

Brooks completed his training in 1980 with Dearden Farrow. He then joined Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co (now KPMG) in 1981 where he stayed for five years, specialising in banking and securities work. Will then made his career at board level in the City. He went on to establish his own consulting firm in 1991, providing business planning, corporate finance advisory and fund management services under FSA regulation.

In 2009/10, Will was elected President of the London Society of Chartered Accountants. He is now a member for London on ICAEW Council and an elected member of the ICAEW Board.

Commenting on his election, Brooks said “I am honoured to have been elected as Vice-President for 2019/20. Our institute is an organisation to be proud of and I want to see ICAEW operating world-wide and respected everywhere. I believe that ICAEW is currently facing three key challenges:  trust in the profession, digital changes and global development. We are more than capable of addressing these, but successful outcomes will take effort and time. I look forward to contributing further to our endeavours in these areas and I hope that during my time in office I will be able to build on our already strong name.”

Current ICAEW Vice President, David Matthews, commented “I would like to congratulate Will on his recent election as Vice President, especially given the high quality of candidates. I am immensely enjoying my year as Vice-President. I know that Will will be an excellent addition to the Presidential team.”

Will Brooks will serve as Vice-President from June 2019 to June 2020, subject to his formal election at the June Council meeting. He will serve as ICAEW President from June 2021 to June 2020.
