Automotive Finance & Insurance (F&I) technology specialist DealTrak has announced that the company has plans for 12 months of fundraising for a range of local and national charities – nominated and voted for by employees.
A long-term supporter of Cancer Research UK (CRUK), the firm raised £1,448.91 for the charity in 2018, with further donations reaching £1,002 in quarter one of 2019. But, alongside their continued support of the national charity, DealTrak has invited employees to nominate their own beneficiaries too.
Once all submissions are received, an internal Google survey serves to establish the four local causes – one per quarter – which will be the focus of donations throughout the year. January to March fundraising has been in aid of Caring for Cats Yorkshire and Humber.
Recommended by lead developer Mark Taylor – who has three cats of his own – the company has raised £300 for the Market Weighton-based animal shelter. Activities led by Mark included selling eggs from his chickens, cooking a huge vegetarian lunch for the entire DealTrak workforce, an indoor games night and a raffle.
Elsewhere, maintaining their support for CRUK, seven members of the team pledged to ‘walk all over cancer’ by covering 10,000 steps each day throughout March. The team has met their fundraising target twofold, raising £1,002 before the challenge has been completed.
Steve Lees, Operations director explained: “It’s very important for DealTrak to be able to give something back – both regionally and nationally. While Cancer Research UK remains our chosen company charity, we wanted to empower our colleagues to nominate and drive forward fundraising for organisations which truly matter to them.”
Looking ahead, the team has an Easter egg hunt planned for April, a dragon boat race entry for the Leeds Waterfront Festival in June and will be a part of ‘Byte Night’ – to raise funds for Action for Children – in October.
