The Office for National Statistics has today published its latest UK consumer price inflation figures showing the Consumer Prices Index was at 2.7% in February 2018, down from 3% in January 2018, its lowest level since July 2017.

Commenting on the figures Joanna Elson OBE, chief executive of the Money Advice Trust, said “This slight drop in inflation is welcome and comes at a time when many households are already struggling to make ends meet or are at risk of tipping over into problem debt. However, this slight easing comes as little comfort for the thousands of people we hear from each week for whom the effects of low wage growth, increased living costs and high levels of borrowing over a sustained period has already left them in financial difficulty.”

“Anyone struggling to cope or thinks they might in the future should seek free debt advice as soon as possible. A service such as National Debtline can help you get the support you need to get back on track with your finances.”
