Ovo Energy, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier, has announced the appointment of Ben Blake as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The company has also announced the appointment of Simon Maine as Director of Corporate Affairs.

Blake joins Ovo as CEO of Ovo Energy and Smart Home, which includes responsibility for the brand, propositions and customer experience for the Ovo Energy brand alongside the development of Ovo Energy brand internationally.

Blake is currently SVP and General Manager at Expedia Group, the world’s largest travel company, where he leads the Hotels.com brand, and brings a wealth of marketing, product management and commercial experience gained from prior roles at McKinsey and CNN. He starts the role in mid-November.

Simon Maine joins the leadership team in the newly created role of Director of Corporate Affairs and will be responsible for public affairs, policy, media relations and sustainability.

Blake and Maine join alongside recent senior hires such as CFO Bill Castell from Virgin Media, CPO Charlotte Eaton from ARM and COO Ramen Bhatia from HSBC.
