Law firm Flint Bishop has appointed Shona Houghton as a Partner in its Debt Services division as it prepares to open a new office in Cardiff in Q1 2025, aimed at further expanding its capacity and service lines.
Houghton joins Flint Bishop from the London-based law firm Francis Wilks & Jones, where she previously served as Head of Debt Recovery. She brings over 15 years of extensive knowledge and experience in litigation, recovery and insolvency services to a diverse client base across various sectors, including education, healthcare, central government, asset-based lending, and commercial/SMEs. Her expertise includes advising financial institutions on invoice recovery, assisting SMEs and directors with debt-related challenges, and defending complex debt claims.
Houghton’s experience also extends to debt recovery, collaborating with insolvency practitioners to optimise the recovery of book debts and sales ledgers, and navigating the complexities of credit control and litigation to uncover innovative recovery strategies.
Qamer Ghafoor, Chief Executive of Flint Bishop, said “I am confident that Shona’s extensive knowledge and experience will be a key asset to the firm, particularly in supporting our growth in litigation actions. This is an area where we anticipate significant expansion in 2025, and her expertise will be invaluable as we work with clients to deliver a consistent and robust service, especially in contested or defended actions.”
