Scottish business insolvencies increase by 13%

Latest figures from Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) have shown that business insolvencies in Scotland increased by 13% in May 2025.

The data showed that there were 133 company insolvencies registered, which is 13% higher than in May 2024. The business insolvencies were driven by an increase in compulsory liquidations.

The business insolvencies comprised of 56 CVLs, 72 compulsory liquidations and five administrations.

There were no CVAs or receivership appointments.
