StreamBank, the specialist lender focused on bridging, commercial and buy-to-let finance, has appointed Barry Carter as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from 14th December 2026. He will succeed Mike Kirsopp, who is retiring after leading StreamBank through significant growth and helping establish it as a leading specialist property finance lender.
Carter joins StreamBank from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, where he currently serves as Chief Executive. He brings more than 25 years’ experience across banking and financial services, with senior leadership roles covering operations, business transformation and strategic growth. He was appointed Chief Executive of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society after previously serving as its Chief Operating Officer and has since overseen the mutual’s modernisation and development.
Nick Treble, Chairman at StreamBank, said “Barry’s appointment represents an important milestone for StreamBank. His experience of leading financial services businesses through periods of growth and transformation, combined with his strategic vision and customer-focused approach, make him the ideal person to lead the business into its next phase.
“We have ambitious plans for the future, and Barry’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us realise them. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Kirsopp for his outstanding leadership, energy and commitment over the past few years. Mike has played a pivotal role in establishing StreamBank as one of the UK’s leading specialist property finance lenders, building a business with an exceptional reputation and a strong platform for future growth. I would like to wish Mike a long, happy and well-deserved retirement and thank him for the lasting contribution he has made to the business.”
