Ofgem to move forward with price cap plans

3rd August 2016

Ofgem wants to improve competition in the energy sector by and putting a price cap on the amount paid by households using a prepaid meter. There also plans to create a database of customer details to ensure consumers are being offered the best energy deals.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced in June to increase Ofgem’s powers, allowing it to make changes to the market more effectively.
