Stockport Credit Union has announced that John Haslam has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Stockport Credit Union has been serving its residents since its inception in 1989 and is nearing 5000 members – an annually increasing figure highlighted in their 2022 Annual General Meeting. The credit union also has many payroll partners in the area and is heavily involved in the Greater Manchester Consortium and the Sound Pound Loan project which was launched by the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.
The Credit Union has also launched an initiative to help thousands of local residents tackle the cost-of-living crisis. This scheme included making one million pounds available for SCU members to apply for loans from this fund. The package of support included a ‘Locked Winter Fuel Saver Account’ and a Member Welfare Scheme which included a discount programme for members to use in high-street shops.
Haslam joins Stockport Credit Union with 10 years of experience working with or for credit unions, he said “I’m really looking forward to helping lead Stockport Credit Union to become the responsible finance provider of choice in the areas our common bond covers. I’m lucky to have a dedicated & passionate staff team, and an ambitious and supportive board so have no doubts we’re very well placed to achieve our shared ambitions.”
