The Insolvency Service has handed out 573 director disqualifications lasting more than five years in 2016/17, the highest figure since 2010/11. In 2015/16, it handed out 532 bans. The number of Scottish registered companies becoming insolvent or entering receivership decreased in the fourth quarter of 2016-17, with 155 companies becoming insolvent compared with 230 in 2015-16 Q4.
