Mazars appoints Restructuring Advisory Director

18th May 2021

Tax, audit and advisory firm, Mazars has appointed Harris Waseem as a Director in its Restructuring Advisory team.

Waseem has over 20 years’ professional services experience, working with both UK and international clients. Prior to joining Mazars, Waseem spent 16 years at a Big four accounting and consulting firm and then three years working at a challenger firm.

Waseem has extensive experience carrying out restructurings for clients in the mid-market and large cap businesses. He regularly advises secured lenders, executive boards and shareholders in situations where businesses are undergoing change, underperforming or at crisis point.

Mark Boughey, Partner at Mazars, said “I’m delighted that Harris has chosen to join the Mazars’ restructuring advisory team. His past experience, expertise and skillset makes him ideally suited to the team, further enhancing our advisory offering to our clients as we move out of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“The economic impacts of Covid-19 have meant the UK’s restructuring landscape is set to evolve at a fast pace. Advisory services are likely to play a huge role over coming months and years to help secure financial restructurings, potentially becoming the solution of choice in the market.”

“An advisory approach provides directors and shareholders with a clear understanding of all the longer-term options available to them. This may be key in helping to mitigate the much speculated ‘wall of post-Covid corporate insolvencies’ becoming a reality as the Government’s Covid-19 support schemes begin to ease.”
