PayPlan unveils debt heroes campaign

19th April 2018
National free debt advice provider PayPlan has announced that it is continuing its commitment to tackling the stress and stigma of financial problems head-on with the launch of a new campaign.

‘Debt Heroes’ has been designed to encourage those with money issues to reach out for free help sooner. Hosted on the PayPlan website, it features exclusive video and blog content presented by Emma and Sam, two of PayPlan’s debt advisers. The campaign sees Emma and Sam talk about their personal experience of working with clients to help them overcome their debt problems, as well as offering expert tips and advice on working to a budget and keeping spending under control.

As Rachel Duffey, CEO at PayPlan, explains, Debt Heroes has been designed specifically to encourage those who might avoid seeking help due to the fear of embarrassment or being judged “Figures released by The Money Advice Service suggest that just one person in five living with a debt problem reaches out for help. This situation needs to change. Debt undoubtedly remains a taboo that people still feel ashamed to talk about and we want the Debt Heroes campaign to help eradicate any fears. People like Emma and Sam might not wear brightly coloured capes or have super powers, but they’re extraordinarily passionate about helping people escape the stress and worry of debt.

“We want to show that when you call or message us, it will be real people like Emma and Sam who respond; people who are easy to talk to, good listeners, understanding and who are trained to offer the best debt advice. It’s about having the right help and support to get back to living again.”

The launch of Debt Heroes runs alongside PayPlan’s increasing focus on providing different options for clients to access help. This includes new digital debt advice services that enable people to reach out at a time that suits them. Individuals can now get debt advice using PayPlan’s secure web form PlanFinder, where they can provide key financial information. Using this data, PayPlan’s team of advisers are then able to recommend a solution suited to an individual’s circumstances.

Duffey, adds “Our advisers are specially trained to deal with clients in distress and can help them understand their options in the clearest terms possible. If they’re not comfortable speaking to someone on the phone, they can discuss their situation via online chat, email or social media. We hope this campaign, and the variety of options available, will encourage people that have been deliberating about reaching out for that initial help to pick up the phone or go online to begin their journey to financial freedom.”
