Capital One Financial Corporation has announced the appointment of Amy Lenander as UK CEO. Lenander will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and general management of the UK credit card portfolio, replacing Chris Newkirk who has recently been appointed President of International and Small Business Card at Capital One.
Since joining Capital One as a graduate business analyst in 2003, Lenander has held successively larger leadership roles, most recently as Chief Marketing Officer, UK. She graduated magna cum lade from Harvard University and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Newkirk congratulated Lenander on her appointment, and praised her following a successful period on the executive leadership team and UK board of directors. “Since 2014 Amy has driven a large and complex portfolio as CMO, from customer acquisition to product development and she has shown exceptional leadership and commercial acumen. We are delighted to be able to appoint a candidate of Amy’s calibre and potential from within our own organisation. Amy is an exceptional executive and strategic thinker. She will drive Capital One forward in the UK by pushing ahead with our digital transformation programme and maintaining a rigorous approach to risk management.”
Capital One UK, which employs 1,000 at its Nottingham headquarters, will soon be opening a new London office in the White Collar Factory, overlooking Silicon Roundabout, to accommodate over 200 London-based employees working in technology and product design.
