Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has peacefully passed away at her estate in Balmoral, Scotland, surrounded by her family.
The Queen was the UK’s longest-serving monarch. Credit Connect shares the country’s deep sadness at the loss of Her Majesty.
Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey said: “It was with profound sadness that I learned of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. On behalf of everyone at the Bank I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to the Royal Family. For most of us, she is the only head of state we have ever known, and will be remembered as an inspirational figure for our country and the Commonwealth.”
David Postings, Chief Executive of UK Finance, said “On behalf of the banking and finance sector, I express my deepest sorrow following the death of Her Majesty The Queen. She was the most loyal of servants to our country and an inspiration to us all. Her passing is a great loss to the nation and all our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.”
