Scottish business insolvencies remain stable

18th July 2022

Latest figures from Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) have indicated that business insolvency numbers (liquidations and receiverships) in Scotland were stable in June 2022.

In June 2022 there were 76 business insolvencies registered in Scotland, equal to the number in June 2021 but 12% higher than in June 2019. The insolvencies comprised of eight compulsory liquidations, 67 CVLs, and one administration. There were no CVAs or receivership appointments.

Historically, the volume of business insolvencies registered in Scotland has been driven by compulsory liquidations.

However, since April 2020, there have been more than three times as many CVLs as compulsory liquidations.
